I’m super excited to share about a lovely restaurant that has recently gotten a gorgeous facelift and revamped the entire menu to delicious perfection: The Lighthouse Bistro. It might be in an unexpected location, but rest assured, when you walk in, you will feel the cozy and intimate ambiance and you’ll be treated to fresh food that has been prepared with attention to detail.
Isaac Tan from The Rarefied’s Collection is the man largely responsible for the total renovation of this restaurant space, concept and menu and he has brought many of his signature touches to the Lighthouse Bistro relaunch including many french fusion dishes and an impressive wine list.
Let me walk you through some of my favorite dishes:
The Salmon’s Milk Bath
This soup is incredibly soothing with a lightly poached salmon in a savory cream soup accented with ginger, chili peppers, bok choy and enoki mushrooms. Creamy, lightly spicy and satiating.
North American Scallops
These melt-in-your-mouth scallops come from my Homeland (hence the name of course). Sitting atop a puré of cauliflower and accompanied with grilled squid, this dish is a delightful starter and a nice easy dish to share with your dining companion before moving on to the serious plates.
Tiger Fish & Fries
This Fish and Chips platter has a few special asian twists– The fish is dipped in a Tiger beer batter and deep fried to a light crispy perfection while the fries have a slight hint of Nori. The dish is served with orange mayo and greens.
Malaysian Angel Hair
The Malaysian Angel Hair is a delicious fusion dish with angel hair pasta cooked Malaysian style and topped with black mussels, squid and tiger prawns and spicy sambal. If you like seafood, pasta, and savory malay spices, you will love this!
The Black Onyx Angus with Mulard Foie Gras
I think this is my favorite. The Black Onyx Angus was tender and juicy, and with the topping of the Mulard foie gras and the port wine sauce, it was like a celebration of textures and flavors. Delicious. The pairing is a potato risotto with bacon chips and sautéed mushrooms. I highly recommend adding the foie gras and port wine sauce to the Black Onyx Angus to get the full experience.
Salted Chocolate and Caramel
I mean, do I really have to say anything? I think this dessert speaks for itself! Think rich creamy chocolate with rich creamy caramel on top of a crunch chocolate biscuit, topped with dark chocolate and sea salt and served with fresh berries. Wow! Just amazing. You might not even want to share this one…
Based on what I got to try, you really can’t go wrong with anything you order at The Lighthouse Bistro. It is a lovely place for a dinner with friends and is also perfect for a date night. Best of all, the prices are incredibly reasonable. This is one place in Singapore where you can truly get value for money.
