Well, I finally made it back to Singapore a few weeks ago in the middle of Chinese New Year. This is a very festive time in the city with decorations adorning most buildings and more importantly, promotions in almost all of my favorite shopping venues. It’s a great time of year to come if you are looking to visit and get a taste for some of the local culture.
I was pretty jet-lagged and about to leave for Thailand (which will be my next post) So, I really only got to celebrate Chinese New Year once, but it was totally worth it because I got to meet a lucky dragon, watched some pretty spectacular dragon acrobatics and ate Yee Sang (Prosperity Salad), which apparently should bring me wealth and health for the coming year (Hey! If a little salad is all it takes, then sign me up!!!)
I was kind of inspired by the prosperity salad and wanted to find a recipe to recreate this fun, healthy treat and came across this great recipe and spice company called Season With Spice. So, the first picture is what the salad looks like when it arrives on the table. Then, everyone at the table helps to toss it and then shares a few bites, which completes the ritual bringing wealth and health to the participants. I’ll put a photos and info below.

Oh and on my walk home, I found this fortune on the ground. Maybe it was meant for me… 🙂 🙂 🙂
