Recently, a new App called Printic (www.printicapp.com) approached me about checking out their really fun photo sharing (printing and delivery) service. After taking a moment to figure out how it works (it’s super user-friendly), I knew just what I wanted to do with it!
Printic allows you to take photos from your smartphone and instantly have them mailed in hardcopy by post to any recipient, anywhere, with world-wide FREE shipping. The format is a 3″x 4″ polaroid type design where a text can be written at the bottom- maybe a place & date, witty saying, or something poetic.
As someone who lives most of the year on the other side of the world from my family, this is a brilliant way for me to surprise my loved ones with photos of my travels. Imagine climbing the Great Wall of China, snapping a photo with your smartphone and then having it instantly mailed by post to friends or family. It’s a great way for expat families to send fun pictures of children growing up to their grandparents in another country. Or, maybe you are on your honeymoon or a fabulous vacation and you send yourself snapshots of all the cool places you go and things you see along the way, and by the time you get back home, you have a bunch of hardcopy snapshots waiting for you in your mail.
I gave it a go, by sending my parents a Valentine’s Day greeting featuring their grandson and they loved it! I also experimented with it by sending myself a few snapshots that I had wanted to have as hardcopies for a while, but never had the time to print them. The prices are great- $.49 per print with the first print at $2.19, and I think it’s safe to say that most of us would love to receive hardcopy photos of our major life events and of our loved ones near and far.
