Walking into ION Art Gallery is a feast for the eyes. From the moment you turn the corner to walk in, it is decorated floor-to-ceilling with MT Masking Tape in a range of bright colors and designs. Apparently, this concept is nothing new for the Japanese (which was evident by the amount of Japanese there who were there rushing to buy all of the limited edition designer tapes from the gift shop and trying out their skills in the ‘play area’). The exhibit features designers creating patterns and styles for the masking tape to be used to decorate homes, photographs, furniture, and just about anything else that it will stick too. The exhibit also features an installation of origami-like ball/lanterns hanging from floor to ceiling in bright shades of candy colors, also made with masking tape. If you are interested in fun design products, it’s definitely worth checking out.
ION ART Gallery Description of the Exhibition:
“The wait of MT fans in Singapore is over; after a successful run in Japan, Taiwan and Thailand, the MT Masking Tape Expo arrives in Singapore at the ION Art Gallery on 26 July 2013.
MT, a big hit in Japan and around the world, is a Japanese masking tape made of washi paper that has strong and excellent adhesiveness, yet is thin and safe to be used easily without leaving traces behind. These adhesive tapes come in a wealth of colors and patterns that cater to the taste of both adults and children. MT tapes are not just aesthetically beautiful, they also provide great functionality too, and can be used in all sorts of creative ways from scrapbooking to wrapping presents, and as quirky quick-fix to ageing laminates on old furniture to decorating entire wall spaces.
MT Masking Tape Expo will transform the ION Art Gallery into a burst of colors through the presentation of MT installations and whimsical decorations. Also featured will be specialised hands-on workshops conducted by MT expert Mariko Hirasawa; a pop-up store selling new MT tape colors, designs and Singapore-themed limited edition MT tapes; and gacha gacha machines, where visitors insert pre-paid tokens for a chance to win limited edition or regular tapes wrapped in a gacha-egg.” -http://www.ionorchard.com/en/ion-art/exhibitions/947-mt-masking-tape-expo-singapore

Back to my OOTD
I was very excited to go art gallery trekking in this sixties inspired, pink brocade outfit, here are a few more snapshots from a day that started with an ABP Juice (Apple Beetroot, Pear), a walk through Mandarin Gallery and shops and ended with a trip through ION Art day =)
