Today was full of surprises. Something I love about Singapore. Not only is the fashion here great and inspiring, but after having lived in a quiet European city for some time, the buzz and energy of Singapore is stimulating and exciting. I started the day by choosing a fun, summer-chic outfit composed of a black BCBG bandage skirt, tie dye Zara top, Color block Zara heels, LindseyMarie Jewelry and a casual side braid. Ready to go to the city! We were just going out for some window shopping. Let me re-phrase that, I was on a bag hunt for my next item of prey… I will share that later… when we came across a couple of art installations/exhbitions that I loved and want to share.
First up was a light hearted hanging installation in Scotts Square featuring bright red umbrellas by artist Ryf Zaini. The meaning behind the piece is much more complex than a pretty work of art. It is meant to signify the strength, synthesis and integration of individuals in Singapore, which is something that makes this country strong and great. The installation is in honor of National Day.
Several views of the installation
Photo of artist information – The glare is a strong, but info is still legible and worth the read.

Then It was off to ION Orchard, where there was a Bazaar Magazine photography exhibit: Isalnd Life: featuring scenes mixing fashion, Singaporean culture and daily life. It was beautiful. They had artists place high fashion models in mundane situations, to make them glamorous and provocative. Definitely worth the trip to ION just to see these photos. I have put some of my favorites below.
If you love some of these prints as much as I do, they can be purchased here. The prices are reasonable and all profits are being donated to LASALLE College of the Arts and needy students in Myanmar. The rest of the day was shopping, Starbucks and enjoying the bit of the weekend that was left! On to Accessories:
